Bleh, you got me. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a strip marked like that, I couldn’t remember if it was the warning area or the end. Thanks for keeping me honest! (I’ll put that on my list of corrections.)
The red card (point against Coach) is for going off the back end of the strip with both feet (actually, for crossing the vertical plane of the end line…it’s not necessarry for the foot to be in contact with the ground). The panel’s drawn incorrectly…the cross mark is within the 2 meter end box and should be in front of coach’s foot.
The artist is aware…it’s on the great list o’ corrections.
Welcome to the home page of Sabrecat, a webcomic about fencing! The comic is currently taking a break while I learn more about cartooning at the Savannah College of Art and Design! New readers can catch up here. Blog posts update regularly with news and artwork, so please stop by often!

RED CARD!!!
(except for the cross-mark being in the wrong place)

Why the red card?

I’ve never seen a red card given for that. The correct call is “point for the opponent.” No card given.
Argh….just got it confirmed that you’re correct, Matt….for all these years I was told (and passed on) that it was a card….urgh.
Got any salt for my words??
