Second chance.

I’ll bet some of you are thinking of that Seinfeld episode where that pretentious conductor insisted that everyone call him “Maestro.” So, do fencing coaches really go by that? You bet they do! Though it’s reserved for those who have earned the title of Fencing Master and then only required of their students, not everybody else. Andrei, however, prefers that his American students call him “Coach,” mostly because he prefers to dissociate himself from the fencing establishment he came from. Serik doesn’t know that yet however, and old habits are hard to break…

I love what Andrei says about seeing inside your opponent’s heart. There is so much more to fencing than just the actions we do, even as the actions are expressions of what is inside of us. Well put!

I am honored that you are linked to me.

As for pizza and blog talk, the next time we get te chance I would love that.

About 3:00 Sunday, I would have given anything for a pizza.

I am glad you think so, too, Bear. Fencing is a way to see below the surface to a person’s core character. It helps that Coach is especially perceptive, too. I think he could have passed or failed Serik at will in that test…
