I think I missed something. Why did the girl dog get chewed out? Because they missed the meet by having the flat tires?
Good detail on her conversation here, talking herself out of being a better fencer by not wanting to believe “Mr. B-rating.”
Cam took Serik, already an accomplished fencer in Kazakhstan, to his first U.S. tournament where he swept the sabre and got an “A.” The car breakdown happened on the way home from said tournament. Coach had planned for Serik to debut at the NAC, a virtual unknown “U” fencer, and surprise everyone with his performance. Sorry if that wasn’t clear- still polishing my storytelling skills, too!

I’m glad you clarified that. I knew about being on the way home from a tournament but somewhere I missed the part about the NAC.
