Intro to Sequential Art Unit 2

The assignment was to create a comic of a fairy tale or fable, without text, using all six types of closure (see Scott McCloud’s book Understanding Comics for an explanation). This story is from Aesop, and is called, “The Old Man and Death.”

The moral is: “We would often be sorry if our wishes were gratified.” In other words, be careful what you wish for!

Coach seems distracted. I tried to loosen up on this page a little, but that “undo” button is just too tempting. One of these days I’m going to try to ink the page on paper before I scan it in.

Playing around with flat color. It took me twice as long to do this in color, so I don’t expect to do it too often. I’m sure the process will speed up as I work with the medium, however.

Sabrecat Debut

Sabrecat will debut on June 1 with three pages. Afterwards, the comic will update with a single page on Mondays. Regular comic pages will be in black and white, with color on special occasions. I hope to bring you every page in color as soon as I learn to do it a little faster!
