This webcomic thing is going to be tougher than I thought. The story is finished and the script is written through September. I have the teaser and three pages roughed that I am going to publish on the launch day in June. But the digital inking? Whoa, I thought it would be faster. The learning curve is going to be quite steep here for the first few weeks. I’m using Photoshop and a digital tablet right now. I’m used to doing vector art in Illustrator and touch-ups in PS, but building art from scratch in PS is a whole different animal. I sure hope the workflow gets faster for me soon! Building panels and word balloons is a pain, too. I’m already starting to drool over Manga Studio. Anybody use that on a Mac?
I’ve also taken up the challenge from the workshop to paint 100 small 4 x 6 paintings in 4-6 months. That’s around one a day. In fact, I should be doing one right now. Practice always takes the fun out of something though, whether it’s music or painting or fencing, doesn’t it? Well, how else do you get better? I just have to make it fun somehow. I’m just happy my schedule is starting to revolve around my art and it isn’t taking a back seat anymore. (^_^)
In the sidebar I added a news feed from NBC that lists Olympic fencing news! Watch this space during the Games to keep up with the latest events. If you mouse over the headline, you’ll get a description of the article before you click on the link. I’m still waiting to hear if there will be television coverage or live streaming video available. As soon as I hear anything, I’ll let you know!
Update: You can grab a sweet NBC Olympic News widget here to put on your desktop or website!
